If Microsoft can give a client the entire gamut of what a corporate employee needs – the platform (Windows 10) the software (Office 365, Dynamics 365, PowerBI), the hardware (Surface, HoloLens), the scalability (Azure) and the collaborative capability (Skype, Teams) – then Steelcase has more than a century of know-how to make it all fit into a thoughtfully designed workspace. In a sense, this is a case study in the making. This immersive ecosystem brings together place and technology to help. By going the extra mile and creating physical workspaces for their clients, Microsoft is putting that strategy into action in a definitive way. Microsoft and Steelcase are introducing Creative Spaces. ![]() The Steelcase partnership is taking that strategy one level deeper, is all. And that customer right now is the enterprise employee. 'The Future of Work is Creative': Microsoft and Steelcase developed a series of spaces designed to support the needs of individuals and teams according to their tasks and activities. Microsoft isn’t taking it to the general public yet, but their strategy is clear: put the customer in the middle, and create a network of products that they will come to depend on for decades to come. Creative Workspaces Designed to Inspire by Steelcase & Microsoft Creative Spaces Overview The Future of Work is Creative Microsoft and Steelcase are introducing Creative Spaces-an immersive ecosystem that brings together place and technology to help people generate new ideas and move them forward. “We are facing unprecedented challenges, amid the ever-evolving business landscape in Singapore, the fast-changing processes, and increased competitive pressures. The findings correspond with a recent ‘Job Happiness Index’ survey that showed that 45 per cent of workers in Singapore are unhappy at work with low job satisfaction and workplace flexibility cited as some of the main factors. ![]() The research found that while 54 per cent of global workers believe their employer cares about them, only 13 per cent are highly engaged and highly satisfied with their workplace. The five spaces have been developed in response to new research commissioned by Steelcase and Microsoft into employee attitudes and engagement at work across the globe. Meanwhile, the Respite Room is a private space to decompress with a view to the green area next to Steelcase Singapore’s building. This space features a mix of Surface devices, such as Surface Hub and Surface Book. Among the high-tech features in the space is a glazed screen that blacked out the Microsoft Surface inside the room, presenting them as blank black surfaces to the eyes outside, protecting the confidentiality of the project.Īn embodiment of today’s creative culture, the Maker Commons comprised a workshop island designed to encourage quick switching between conversation, experimentation and concentration. Ideation hub is a high-tech spot set with Microsoft Surface Hub that active creative input from a number of teammates in the same location or otherwise. It includes a lounge area for a quick review with Surface Hub.’ This area features Microsoft Surface Book or Surface Pro 4. The Duo Studio is maximised for working in pairs. The Focus Studio is dedicated for individual creative work that requires focus while allowing quick shifts to two-person collaboration. ![]()
